feed your real brain

So the truth is, the gut controls everything and it feeds your brain.  The brain gets signals and nutrition from your gut and when it’s not optimal, neither is your brain.  Nutrition nourishes every cell and when some of them have been compromised by stroke, nutrition matters even more.

Supplements,  IV therapy and dietary changes are important parts to your recovery.  Caveat: do your research and include your entire medical team on any choices or changes you make.  Some supplements  decrease effectiveness of medications.  A nutritionist will help you make good dietary changes if underlying health conditions contributed to your stroke.

Integrative Functional Medicine, Naturopath doctors and holistic providers can suggest supplements, herbs and off label uses for medications.

Chinese Traditional Medicine providers can suggest herbal supplements that are really good but also can be just as effective as medications.  So again, make sure you are keeping all of your providers in the loop about what you’re taking.

Do your own research and discuss with providers the benefits of supplements, herbs and dietary changes. If you feel it’s right for you and your doctors determine there’s no risk or harm, go for it.  But look for the purest, organic sources of everything you consume to give your body optimal nutrition.
