Highlands Speech Therapy

Highlands Speech Therapy was created to bring high quality, person-centered rehabilitation to the residents of Virginia.
Individuals who have experienced a stroke, brain injury, or are living with a neurodegenerative disorder often lack access to skilled therapy services to help them regain their independence.
We focus on both client and family/caregiver involvement, to ensure better outcomes and increased satisfaction. We provide person-centered therapy via telehealth, with the option of in-home visits for patients local to Abingdon, Virginia.
The founder of Highlands Speech Therapy, Karen Malone, is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist with experience in multiple medical settings.
Since graduating from the University of Virginia in 2009, she has worked in inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, outpatient, and home health. She has spent the majority of her career working in Richmond, Virginia, but returned to her hometown of Abingdon in 2020.
